1. PURPOSE
Aussies After Dark is an adults-only advertising directory, but it is not intended to operate as a public pornography-hosting service.
This policy establishes a deliberately non-explicit standard for material displayed publicly on AAD.
This policy applies in addition to the Content Policy.
2. PUBLIC MEDIA STANDARD
Public photographs and videos must be non-explicit.
AAD may apply a stricter publication standard than content that might otherwise be lawful to possess or publish elsewhere.
3. NOT PERMITTED IN PUBLIC MEDIA
Public media must not show or depict:
- exposed genitals;
- an exposed anus;
- exposed female nipples;
- sexual intercourse;
- oral sex;
- anal sex;
- masturbation;
- sexual or explicitly simulated sexual activity;
- explicit use of sex toys;
- penetration or simulated penetration;
- explicit bodily-fluid imagery;
- explicit sexual close-ups;
- sexual activity between multiple people;
- explicit fetish activity;
- other sexually explicit imagery;
- high-impact nudity or other material that AAD reasonably considers unsuitable for unrestricted public display.
Censoring is not sufficient if prohibited detail remains reasonably discernible.
AAD may also reject material that it reasonably considers likely to constitute age-restricted Class 1 or Class 2 material under Australia's online-safety/classification framework.
4. MATERIAL GENERALLY PERMITTED
Subject to context and moderation, public media may include:
- lingerie;
- underwear;
- swimwear;
- cleavage;
- glamour photography;
- suggestive but non-explicit poses;
- implied nudity;
- appropriately cropped images;
- properly blurred or pixelated teaser images;
- ordinary portraits.
An item falling within one of these examples may still be rejected if its overall presentation is explicit or otherwise violates AAD policy.
5. BLURRING, PIXELLATION AND CROPPING
Advertisers may use AAD editing tools where available to make an image suitable for public display.
Blur, pixellation or cropping must genuinely prevent prohibited detail from being discernible.
AAD may require stronger editing or reject an image where moderation considers the edit insufficient.
6. PRIVATE ORIGINAL MEDIA
AAD may permit an advertiser to upload an original media file privately so that a compliant public version can be prepared and reviewed.
Private storage does not make prohibited material acceptable.
The following material must never be uploaded to AAD, including privately:
- child sexual abuse material;
- sexual or sexualised content involving anyone under 18;
- content presented as involving a minor;
- non-consensual intimate material;
- material involving a person who did not consent to its creation or use;
- material the advertiser does not have authority to upload or publish;
- unlawful sexual material.
7. AGE OF PEOPLE DEPICTED
Every person depicted in adult or sexualised advertiser media must be 18 or older.
AAD may reject material where a person's adulthood is materially ambiguous in the context in which the media is presented.
An advertiser must not use styling, descriptions or themes designed to sexualise a person as a child.
8. CONSENT
Every person depicted must have consented to the relevant creation and use of the material.
An advertiser must remove material or notify AAD promptly if they cease to have authority to publish it.
A person depicted in content may use AAD's takedown process to raise a consent concern.
9. RIGHTS
Advertisers must own or otherwise hold sufficient rights to upload, process and publish their media through AAD.
AAD may request information reasonably necessary to investigate a rights complaint.
10. MODERATION
Public media is subject to human moderation.
AAD does not represent that automated systems independently determine whether media contains nudity or whether every person depicted is an adult.
Approval means only that AAD permitted the media for publication under its moderation process at that time.
AAD may subsequently remove approved media if new information, a complaint, changed policy or legal/regulatory considerations justify doing so.
11. VIDEOS
Public videos are subject to the same non-explicit standard as photographs.
An acceptable thumbnail or opening frame does not make an otherwise explicit video acceptable.
The entire submitted video must comply.
12. WATERMARKING AND PROCESSING
AAD may resize, crop, blur, transcode, watermark or otherwise technically process media for operation of the service.
Public photographs may carry AAD branding or watermarks.
13. EXTERNAL LINKS
AAD's public-media restrictions apply to content hosted and displayed by AAD.
External links remain subject to the Content Policy and AAD's link rules.
An advertiser must not use external links to circumvent AAD rules or direct users to unlawful content.
14. REPORTING
Suspected underage, non-consensual or unlawful material should be reported immediately through AAD's reporting or takedown mechanisms.
15. ENFORCEMENT
AAD may reject, disable or remove media without waiting for the advertiser to edit it where AAD reasonably considers immediate action appropriate.
Serious violations may result in suspension or permanent removal.
